Car Tyre Insurance
Replacing tyres is not inexpensive. A full set of tyres can be very difficult to pay for especially in the current economic times. It would be wonderful if all the roads we drive on are safe for our tyres. Unfortunately punctures from nails, metal, or accidental issues with curbs do result. If you do not want to face the expense of replacing your tyres consider car tyre insurance. Car tyre insurance covers certain incidents with your vehicle. Accidental damage, malicious damage, punctures, and roadside assistance are part of car tyre insurance.
Accidental damage cover will replace or repair the tyre depending on the damage and limit of your insurance policy. Malicious damage coverage replaces or repairs the tyre(s) within the limits of the policy; however, before the claim can be fulfilled a police report must be filed. The number from the report must go on the claim. Puncture damage is covered up to £50. Typically with a puncture in the tyre, repairing is the only option within the car tyre insurance. If a repair does not work then other options can be explored. Roadside assistance will help you get the tyre switched out or to a garage for the tyre repair.
Car tyre insurance is an insurance policy like all others. There will be terms and conditions that must be met. The policy will outline what is covered by the insurance to ensure you have the right policy for your needs. The insurance is set up to cover the repairs or replacement of your tyres within parameters.
Before a tyre can be replaced or repaired under the policy certain things must apply:
• The tyre on the vehicle has an E stating that it complies with road safety regulations.
• The first £10 of the claim is generally the insured’s responsibility; though some car tyre insurances do not require this.
• Most policies will not allow a claim to be filed in the first thirty days of your policy start date. In other words they are trying to limit you from obtaining the insurance due to damage already inflicted on the tyre.
• All car tyre insurance is not transferable, which means you and your vehicle are the only ones covered, no another driver or vehicle.
• Any car hire vehicle will not be covered in the insurance.
These are the parameters you must meet before obtaining a claim. There are certain instances where tyre damage will not be covered. We have those listed for you.
• Damage to a tyre caused by the wrong pressure is not covered.
• Loss or damage to the vehicle due to an accident, theft or fire is not covered.
• Fault manufacture or design of the tyre
• Wheel alignment, balance, defectiveness, steering, or suspension issues that cause tyre damage
All other issues are typically covered under car tyre insurance. If you wish to avoid paying for repairs or replacement of your tyres due to the circumstances listed above, obtaining the insurance will be right for you.
