Car Warranties

When you purchase a vehicle you want to make sure it stays in great shape.  You also want to ensure that vehicle will be covered for certain repairs.  car warranties have  been set up to cover mechanical parts in the event they break before the warranty is up.  With car warranty insurance you can purchase protection for mechanical breakdown, servicing, MOT, breakdown recovery, accident assistance, tyre assistance, legal assistance, uninsured loss recovery, and more.  You can also obtain protection on just mechanical breakdown, MOT, or servicing.  What you have covered on your car is up to you.  However, you want to consider what is covered and what will not be covered.  By not having enough car warranty insurance you might find repairs too expensive.

We will look at some of the options mentioned above when it comes to car warranties.  Mechanical breakdown coverage under the warranty insurance is meant to cover any mechanical component in your vehicle up to £5,000.  This includes the parts, labour, and VAT.  There are three levels to the mechanical breakdown insurance under the car warranty insurance option.  You have low, medium, and high mileage coverage.  In other words if the car has 100,000 miles or is over 10 years certain aspects may not be covered in the warranty unless you pay for the extended privilege.

Components that are part of the wear and tear disclosure will not be covered.  These parts are generally fan belts, air hoses, brakes, and other parts of a vehicle which are meant to wear down over time and be replaced.  Car warranties cover the components that should not break.  For example engine parts such as the cylinder block, head assemblies, gasket, pushrods, camshaft, distributor drive, internal bushes, flywheel, etc can be covered in the warranty.
Vehicles with a turbocharger can have car warranty insurance cover the parts of a factory fitted turbocharger.  Manual and automatic transmission parts such as the gears, shafts, bearings, and torque converter are also covered under a regular car warranty insurance plan.

Electric components such as the alternator and starter motor are covered.  Differential, driveline, driveshaft, and the fuel system are options you may have in the policy.  Depending on the type of policy and the year of the car you may elect to forego some coverage such as the suspension or four wheel drive unit.  As a car becomes older parts will begin to show their age.  This means you want more cover for repair and parts as the car has more mileage on it.

Car warranty insurance can cover servicing of the vehicle.  Every 12,000 to 30,000 miles your vehicle needs to have some mechanical servicing such as tyre rotation.  This servicing is normally not covered under a car warranty option; however, car warranty insurance is different, therefore you can elect to have servicing as part of the agreement.
MOT insurance is another part to car warranty insurance.  It is a separate option, which you must elect to take.  A MOT test is required on vehicles.  If the vehicle fails the test you may need repairs in order to pass.  The car warranty insurance option allows the parts, labour, and VAT to be included.

There are other elective options you may choose.  Breakdown recovery is a towing service.  If your vehicle fails while you are driving you can have a vehicle rescue operator pick you and the car up to take it to the closest repair shop.  They can also work on the vehicle to try and get it started while you are at the breakdown site.

Accident assistance as part of car warranty insurance helps you get the vehicle off the road and to a garage.  Tyre assistance or windscreen repair is another option you have with car warranty insurance.  If you find your tyre has been damaged or if you need a windscreen repair a truck can be dispatched to repair the issue on the scene or transfer your vehicle to a garage.

Car warranty insurance is there to help make your life a little easier when unplanned events occur.  Car insurance, which you must have by law, is helpful only to a point.  With car warranty insurance the coverage is wider, helping you with the out of pocket expenses.  There is no need to suffer through repair and labour costs when car warranty insurance is available.  There are additional benefits with car warranty insurance such as uninsured loss recovery, legal assistance, and even car hire if needed.
