Used Car Warranty

Used car warranties can seem a bit confusing if you have never had a warranty before.  You might ask yourself what types of things are covered, how does it work, and is it really worth it?  The last question is hard to answer, since many find they never need the policy and end up spending several hundred pounds more per month for the warranty cover.  However, used car warranty does cover a person for what could go wrong.  For example if you purchase a new used car, which comes with a five year warranty with no extra cost, and the engine block cracks you are able to get it replaced without trouble.  However if you don’t have insurance and this happens, you have to pay for the labour, the new block, and any other parts for the repair. Fixing cars today can be quite costly based on the expense of the replacement parts.

However, there are ways to invalidate the warranty.  If you do not seek service at the correct intervals your warranty will be void.  Typically this is every 10,000 to 50,000 miles depending on the warranty company.  So you have to stick to the rules of the warranty if you want it to work for you.  The downside is that the services you have to have done are not part of the warranty.  Tyre rotations, brake alignments, fan belts, and other things that have normal wear and tear are not covered.  You may spend a few hundred pounds just on the service, plus paying for the warranty.

While it may seem we are focusing on the negative, it is best to know what you are responsible for when it comes to the warranty and whether you want to have the cover or not.  It can seem like you don’t, but there are many valid reasons for the car warranty cover.  First, you should have your vehicle serviced at certain intervals to ensure the car runs great for the life span it will have.  The more you take care of your car the more life you get out of it.  So it is just common sense to have the annual or bi annual services.  Furthermore, replacing an engine or other car parts covered under the warranty is not cheap.  To fix a small issue you could end up paying a few thousand pounds or more.

When you purchase used car warranty cover you do not have to go through the dealer.  There are independent sites offering used car warranty cover.  They may be better or worse than what the dealer is offering.  This means research is imperative when looking to buy used car warranty cover.  By researching your options you can find the best plan based on price and cover that suits your needs.

Used Car Warranty Insurance

The typical used car warranty insurance will not include fixing paint, hoses, belts, filters, or wiper blades.  It may not cover tyres, batteries, or even windshields or windows.  With safety equipment your car’s warranty should cover airbags and seat belts for up to five years or fifty thousand miles, whichever comes first, though different policies will cover these options for different time spans.

Basic warranty insurance tends to cover bumper to bumper.  In other words, all mechanical components are covered except those that naturally wear out over time, such as the things discussed above.  Most car dealership warranties cover up to 60,000 miles or three to five years.  It will depend on the dealership, type of car, and if there are any special deals going on.

You can purchase additional coverage for the vehicle when it comes to car warranty insurance.  You can have rust and corrosion warranty cover for your vehicle based on where you live.  If you live in a high rain or humidity place you will want this cover.  Salt water is well known for its corrosive effects.

Drive train warranty cover will cover the driveshaft, transmission, and drive axles of the vehicle.  The cover time will depend on when you purchase the coverage.  Most dealers sell drive train warranty cover for the first 10,000 miles, but if you purchase an extended warranty on a used car it could be covered.

The best way to determine what used car warranty insurance you want to have is going to be research.  Research allows you to find the differences in policies, what company may offer the best price, and whether your vehicle will qualify.  Used cars have to get an extended warranty that goes beyond the original manufacturer warranty on the vehicle you purchase.
